Private tutor in Arlington, VA
Harvard University - Bachelors, History of Art and Architecture , American University - Masters, International Affairs
I earned my bachelor's degree at Harvard University where I graduated cum laude, and I then earned my master's degree at American University. I was successful in my studies, and I now enjoy helping others master their classes, as well. I have extensive experience working with adolescents, and I spent a year as the coach of a collegiate varsity rowing team as well as two years as a college counseling intern. My internship was performed at an all-girls Catholic school in L.A. I really honed my teaching skills while holding these positions. When I was a rowing coach, I always coached using positive reinforcement and encouraged my team members to ask questions; I now tutor in a similar fashion to the way I coached. Specific courses and test sections I can tutor include Algebra 1, Elementary Math, Middle School Math, Reading, Writing, Phonics, College Essays, Arithmetic, Study Skills And Organization, Pre-Algebra, Math, English, Study Skills, Essay Editing, and Grammar and Mechanics, and I can help prep for tests such as the ISEE, PSAT, and SSAT. When not tutoring, I enjoy rowing, baking, and visiting museums and art galleries.
