Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Colombia, my native country (2013). High School degree with Emphasis in pedagogy and teaching, Three years of teaching training and two years of practice.
Experience
I taught for two years to high school students between the ages of 12 and 17 years old as part of my teaching practices, I used to replace teachers as part of the training program so I would plan a class related to any high school topics depending of the teacher that I was replacing. I had a group of 12 students as well for the same two years between the ages of 5 and 10 years old whom I taught topics as science, language and art, I would do it in the afternoons also as part of my practices. While I was at university, I tutored some students helping them with topics such as human resources and economics; and I have been tutoring Spanish in the United States for about four months. I like to be a tutor because I enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge with others, I also like learning and I think you can learn as much from your students as they can learn from you. Furthermore, I believe from my experience that the best way for learning a language is getting in contact with not just native speakers but also the culture. As a native speaker I offer to my students the possibility of learning how the Latin American culture works as a strategy to get a better understanding of the language, adapting this knowledge to the needs and learning ways of each student. I understand that everybody is different and each student has their own method to learn, that’s why I work hard to adapt my classes to them so that we can make a successful team.
