Versatile & Unique Writing Skills: For two years I recruited, trained and supervised college students at Berea College’s Integrated Marketing and Communications office. There I helped younger students develop their writing skills, and oversaw the submission of articles to the director of publications. I worked as a Writing Associate before being promoted to the Magazine Supervisor position. In both roles I published photos and articles in the Berea College Alumni Magazine, a 40 page glossy periodical, published three times a year to an audience of 30,000+ alumni and donors. I’ve developed my writing skills by writing and editing features, profiles, grant proposals, communication plans, brochures, blogs, event recaps, hard & soft news stories, and broadcast scripts. I have extensive experience in writing education courses, including classes in: Journalism (with the former head editor of the Duke Chronicle), Professional Writing for the Web, Broadcast Journalism Script Writing, Creative Writing, Advanced Creative Writing, Grant Writing, and a wide variety of professional poetry and song writing workshops. I’ve also written over two hundred pages of academic writing on topics including: International Law and Human Rights, Psychology, Sociology, Understandings of Christianity, Religion and Conflict, Diversity Peer-Education, and Environmental Studies in China. I love to learn new writing strategies and techniques. In my free time I’ve worked through more than ten books that focus on garnering and sharpening writing tools. I’ve continued to maintain my teaching skills by leading writing and poetry workshops for high school students.
