ExperienceI'm a tutor with a broad history of teaching and tutoring school age and young adult students. Since I earned a New York license to teach English for 7-12 grade students, I've worked as a substitute teacher. I also spent time as an adjunct professor of Speech and Theater, as well as a tutor at Queensborough Community College, where I helped students improve their skills in the Social Sciences and History coursework. A recent program I'm proud to have been a part of, The CUNY College Now Program, allowed me to work with 9-11 grade students as a mentor for English coursework. They received college-level credit for participating in the program. One of the attributes that makes me an accomplished tutor is my ability to connect with students at their level. Students warm up to me as I demonstrate a level of patience they often don't receive in the classroom. I take the time to completely explain a process and ensure their understanding before moving ahead. My students would describe me as providing assistance to them in a fun and dedicated manner. Among the many areas I specialize in, my key focus has been Literature, History, Composition, and Philosophy. My love for learning extends outside the classroom to interests in reading, writing (poetry & music), physical fitness, and sports.
