University of Pittsburgh-Pittsburgh Campus - Bachelors, Applied Developmental Psychology , University of Pittsburgh-Pittsburgh Campus - Masters, Instruction and Learning
I earned both my undergraduate degree in developmental psychology and my graduate degree in instruction and learning from the University of Pittsburgh. I then received my teaching certification from the state of Pennsylvania for special education and elementary instruction. While still in college I was given the opportunity to volunteer for a variety of nonprofit organizations, many of which allowed me to work with students. I have worked with a diverse student population as part of my volunteer work and teacher training and it has been instrumental in developing my educational philosophy and teaching style. I believe it is essential to create individualized learning experiences that are crafted with the student's specific learning style, strengths, and weaknesses in mind. I currently offer tutoring services for several subjects, including reading, writing, essay editing, literature, English grammar and syntax, American history, psychology, public speaking, English, social studies, elementary math, special education, and AP psychology. I also help students who are preparing for a standardized exam such as the ISEE or SSAT. Regardless of the subject being taught, there is no one single form of instruction that will be successful for all students. It is my goal to get to know each of my students so that I am able to create the most effective lessons possible for them.
