I completed my undergraduate studies at UC - Santa Cruz, and my graduate studies at George Washington University. I'm a published author and expert professional writer. As a student, I received scholarships, fellowships and awards for my successes, but I didn't accomplish all of this without my own struggles. I had a hard time as a high school student, but I discovered the way I needed to learn to be successful. I know firsthand that students learn in different ways. As a result, my teaching approach is to identify what's unique about each student's path to understanding, and then I leverage that to help them establish learning skills that will work for them. The power of this approach is that to help students develop the ability to learn in all environments. When I have free time, I like to write, read, hike, and ride my bike. I also enjoy baseball, history, art, and music.
