B.A. in Chinese Language with a minor in Asian Studies from the University of Vermont. My comprehensive course of study included language classes in Chinese and Japanese, along with classes in Chinese history, literature, art, and traditional culture. During this time I studied abroad at Yunnan Normal University in Kunming, China, where my coursework focused on intensive language instruction, Sino-US business relations, and the cultures of China's national minority groups. Postgraduate year at Yunnan Normal University; course of study focused on advanced Chinese language instruction, including idioms and practical fluency.
Experience
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Five years teaching experience in China, primarily in the cities of Beijing and Kunming. I have tutored students with a wide variety of ages and backgrounds, including children as young as four years old and middle-aged working professionals. I was the first foreign teacher at New Oriental Maxen's school at Jin Yuan in Beijing, where I personally recruited the first student. In less than two years, the brand-new facility became a thriving center with hundreds of students. I have always loved teaching, and I have had a passionate interest in China for many years.

I am deeply interested in the history of China, particularly 20th century history and the Three Kingdoms period. I have traveled all over China, visiting many cities and villages in the countryside. I enjoy telling stories and discussing this fascinating country and it's wonderful people. My non-academic interests include sports, movies, reading, writing, and drinking tea.
