Experience***Please note that I am located in Arlington, VA.***
I am a General Chemistry Teaching Assistant at Georgetown University, in which I have taught a general non-Chemistry majors section and the Chemistry majors section. In the General Chemistry for Majors Laboratory course, we utilize inquiry-based experiments, in which I have co-authored a paper to be submitted to the Journal of Chemical Education. I have also been awarded Chemistry Department's "Best General Chemistry Teaching Assistant" for the 2015-2016 and 2013-2014 academic years and received a nomination for the Georgetown University Graduate School TA Award (2016).
Also at Georgetown University, I work in a Synthetic Inorganic lab in which my research focuses on the synthesis of metal chalcogenide nanomaterials. I have presented my work at the ACS Central Regional Meeting in Pittsburgh (Fall 2014), the ACS National Meeting in Boston (Summer 2015), the ACS National Meeting in San Diego (Spring 2016), and the Colloidal Semiconductor Nanocrystals Gordon Research Conference (2016).
I worked as a Chemistry Tutor at Monmouth University, and have been tutoring privately in the DC area for the past four years.
I have worked as a Lab Assistant at Monmouth University for Organic Chemistry, Quantitative Analysis, General Chemistry I and Instrumental Analysis.
At Monmouth, I have completed several Chemistry classes, including General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Quantitative Analysis, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Biochemistry.
I did Undergraduate Research in Chemistry for three years at Monmouth University in the synthesis of chiral bidentate phosphine ligands.
In high school I passed the AP exams for Chemistry, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Psychology, Physics, English Language and English Literature.
HobbiesI am an incredibly driven student, graduating with a dual major and a dual minor and currently pursuing a PhD at Georgetown University. Upon graduating from Georgetown University, I hope to pursue a career in academia.
Outside of teaching and my research, I have served as the Graduate Student Organization of Chemistry President (2015-2016). I also organized a committee of six students who will be planning a symposium at the Spring 2017 ACS National Meeting in San Francisco titled "Water Sustainability: Chemists in Pursuit of Clean Water".
During my undergraduate career, I was extremely involved in Pep Band, Chemistry Club, and Alpha Xi Delta. I served as Treasurer of the Pep Band for three years, President for the Chemistry Club for two years, and President of the Iota Nu Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta for one term.
I continue to stay involved as an alumnae of Alpha Xi Delta, holding the position of Autism Speaks Philanthropy Chair for the Northern Virginia Alumnae Association, Philanthropy Advisor for the Beta Eta chapter at the University of Maryland, and the National Academic Director. I am the recipient of the 2015 Northern Virginia Alumnae Panhellenic Association graduate student scholarship award.

Susette tutored my son, a high sophomore, in Honors Chemistry. We had tried two other tutors prior to Susette and found that neither came close to Susette in terms of in depth knowledge of Chemistry and the ability to clearly explain concepts. Susette was fantastic. With Susette's help, my son earned an A on his Honors Chemistry final. I highly recommend Susette and so does my son!
Fantastic experience was a huge help for my daughters sophomore honors Chemistry class was able to teach and explain material and gave my daughter confidence to be successful. Susette was very prompt and never cancelled any sessions we could always count on her being there. Would recommend to anybody !! Thank you
Susette was very flexible with her schedule and truly helped our son who at times was completely overwhelmed. She is patient and kind and can present the information in whatever level necessary giving the end result of grade improvement. Excellent, excellent tutor!!! She knows her stuff!!!!
Best Chemistry tutor ever. After just one session I brought my next test grade up by over 20 points. She knows the material extremely well and explains things thoroughly at a level that you understand.
