Experience
I first realized that I had a passion for teaching while at the University of Pennsylvania. While earning my BA in History, along with minors in Hispanic Studies and Consumer Psychology, I worked with students in K-12 in the Philadelphia public school system. This experience inspired me to fill out an application for Teach for America before I graduated from UPenn. This program puts those who have just graduated college and professionals in schools that are in poorer areas across the country. My first placement was in Phoenix where I taught elementary school. Since then, I have taught middle school-aged students, too. Gaining experience with such a wide range of grades has allowed me to teach many different subjects like math, reading, and history. My time teaching elementary school motivated me to get my master's in Elementary Education at ASU's Mary Lou Fulton College in 2013. Because each student is different, my style of teaching adapts to how someone learns best. Nothing drives me more than helping a student with goals, but no plan, develop a course of action for success. When not teaching, I enjoy challenging myself with CrossFit, cooking, and hanging out with my dog.
