Experience
My name is Matt, a licensed educator with over 16 years experience teaching both Spanish and English. As an undergraduate, I attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, where I majored in Spanish and Sociology, with a concentration in Latin American Studies. My graduate degree in Spanish is from Middlebury College, an immersion program in which you pledge to only listen, read, write and speak in the language that you are studying for the duration of each of the four summers you attend; this program is renowned among the most rigorous programs of language study in the nation. During the last decade, I have also had the pleasure of leading students on trips and exchanges in Spain, Ecuador, and Argentina, and currently lead an exchange program with a school in Chile. When not in the classroom, you can find me on the football field, since I'm an assistant coach for my school's freshman team, at a martial arts gym in Center City, where I study jiu-jitsu, or taking road trips with friends throughout the area. My teaching style is clear and energetic and am confident in my ability to push students to achieve great things, while offering a lot of support along the way. Furthermore, my students describe me as easy to relate to, since outside of class we talk about everything from sports to music. Nevertheless, I always make it clear that while I am easy to talk to, my objective is to help my students succeed academically, to help them to be the best they can be.
